Characters: Victor-7th Grader,
Teresa-Victors Crush, Michael-Victors Friend, Mr. Belton-Teacher, Mrs. Garza-Teacher,
Mrs. Genies-Teacher, Mr. Bueller-Teacher, Mr. Lucas-Teacher
Exposition:
At a school, a seventh grader named Victor was excited for his first day. He
knew how to speak English and Spanish, but wanted to learn French as well. And
on his first day, he found a girl he liked named Teresa. He promised that this
year was going to be the year he gets Teresa.
Rising Action: Victor
chose French class for two reasons which was to be in the same class as Teresa
and to go to France. Then there is Michael, who he supposedly knew him a long
time ago. He met him by the nonstop water fountain and did their “raza”-handshake. Victor got impressed by
Michael’s face and asked him how he did it. He apparently had read a GQ
magazine that his older brother had borrowed from the Book Mobile and noticed
that the male models all had the same look on their faces.
Climax: In
French class, Victor and Teresa where the last ones left with Mr. Bueller.
Victor secretly planned this with Mr. Bueller to impress Teresa. Teresa was
amazed by Victors French even though he knew none of it. (apart of the plan.)
As he waits in terror for Mr. Bueller to correct Teresa, he doesn’t correct
her. And his plan fails.
Resolution: Victor reflects on his trick and the fact that Teresa was
impressed by his made-up French. He faces
with feelings of embarrassment and helplessness. He raced to metal shop. After metal
shop there was biology, and after biology a long sprint
to the public library,
where he checked out three French textbooks.
Summary: In “Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto,
we have a kid named Victor, a seventh-grader, on his first day of school.
Victor dreams of traveling to France and takes French class to be in the same
class as Teresa, a girl he likes. His friend Michael has
adopted a glaring look inspired by male models. As the bell rings, Victor
wonders if the glare tactic could work for him to.
My Opinion: In my opinion, I liked the story
because it was fast-paced.
(“Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto) was great
to read because of its interesting text and how Victor regretted his plan. I
felt joy reading this and I think anyone that is reading this blog should read
it.
